What is Akshy Association?

The Akshy Association is an NGO that works for the empowerment of the most disadvantaged people in India in order to break the cycle of poverty and misery in which they live through education.

In addition to providing education in their schools, they carry out projects for the empowerment of women, as well as social protection programmes for the disabled and the elderly.

Where is Akshy located?

Akshy is located in the north-east of India, in Bodhgaya, in the state of Bihar, the most impoverished in the country, with the highest illiteracy rate and the lowest per capita income.

They work in different villages in a rural area near Bodhgaya where the houses are made of mud, with no running water or electricity. Access to some of the villages is difficult, as there are no paved roads and during the monsoon season the roads are often flooded. This makes it difficult for the population to have access to schools, health centres, etc., leaving them marginalised in an environment of absolute poverty, where all of Akshy’s projects are carried out.

What is their objective?

Their objective is to promote the development of the most disadvantaged rural communities in India, especially the “untouchables”, therefore they work towards the eradication of extreme poverty and the creation of a more equitable society, listening to the needs of the population in the first person.

Ethics, wisdom, responsibility or altruism are values of the Universal Education programme, which are in the DNA of the NGO, as well as respect for different traditions, cultures and religions, as long as they are not contrary to human rights. The aim is to educate for a meaningful life, which develops the potential of the individual to achieve happiness and personal excellence, and to contribute to the well-being of others, a better society and a more harmonious world.

They support the programmes that the Indian Government has implemented for the development of the most underprivileged community of Dalits or “untouchables” and they inform them how they can take advantage of them in order to receive the benefits.

And you are part of all this, do you know how?

Easy Spanish School collaborates directly with the Akshy Association. Therefore, for each course sold we will donate 5% of the profits to help them to continue developing their projects in India.

Of course you are also part of this project while you learn Spanish. Because we all have the right to an education and to a dignified and quality life.
